Trans Youth Initiative – Uganda (TYI-Uganda) is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated consultant or consultancy agency to conduct a comprehensive Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) for 20 transgender and gender-diverse-led CSOs across Uganda. This assessment will play a pivotal role in strengthening the resilience and capacity of organizations that work to promote the rights, health, and well-being of Uganda’s transgender and gender-diverse communities.

ABOUT THE CONSULTANCY

OBJECTIVE:
The selected consultant will conduct OCAs across multiple organizations, evaluating key domains such as governance, financial management, human resources, advocacy, and program implementation. By identifying strengths, capacity gaps, and growth opportunities, the consultant will help to build a foundation for effective and sustainable operations, enabling these CSOs to achieve greater impact and sustainability in their advocacy and service delivery.

SCOPE OF WORK:

  • Develop a tailored OCA tool to assess each organization.
  • Conduct participatory assessments with CSO leaders and staff across Uganda’s districts.
  • Focus on domains including governance, human resources, financial management, program/project management, networking, advocacy, and security.
  • Deliver individualized baseline reports and capacity-building action plans for each CSO.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in Social Studies, Public Health, Development Studies, or related field.
  • Proven experience in conducting organizational capacity assessments, preferably with Key Population-focused CSOs.
  • In-depth knowledge of Uganda’s socio-cultural context, particularly concerning gender-diverse and marginalized communities.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with a commitment to participatory and inclusive assessment approaches.
